THE EMPRESS
In the major Arcanum of Tarot, The Empress represents deeply embodied Presence. She is utterly Alive, Fully Incarnated. She is Venus. Abundant, infinite pool of water/love/energy/possibility. She rests, wide open awake, upon her throne in a garden, and she herself is a garden. She is flanked by rushing wild water, and her flowing gown pools around her, water-like. Seated fully in her power, the wild waters of her own body are reflection of all Nature.
How does our Presence change, how does our sense of Empowerment change, when we recognize ourselves as an incarnation of all Nature? Nothing to prove, we dissolve into What IS: We grow, shift and transform. It becomes effortless, not painless, but effortless: a snake peeling out of a redundant skin. A butterfly born from goo.
Hanging vines: Jasmine and Wisteria, scent-drenched bee food, hang upon your body- a nod to a second interpretation of this year which pairs The Empress card with The Hanged One card. The Hanged one representing truth lain bare: all falls from the pockets. Utter Abundance of spirit born from complete surrender. A portal is born, where once you envisioned The End.
In keeping with our desire to create garments which embody seasonally specific ritual, we have designed THE EMPRESS leotard in tribute to the Wild, Embodied Presence reflected in her seat in the Tarot.

This leotard has been y e a r s in the making. The pattern is designed to offer great flexibility in size options: if you happen to have a full bust or tend to need wider hip options with a small waist (or narrower hips and a fuller waist!), this is the leotard for you because it can accommodate any shape.
Made from beautiful heavyweight cotton-lycra cloth, suitable for dancing, swimming, acrobatics, or ritual use. Constructed by hand with care and purpose: made to last. Our black organic cotton is dyed in a closed-loop system, so that pigments are not released into wastewater. Crotch is lined with cotton and heavyweight cotton-lycra cloth is opaque and lovely. These garments are made to last.
Organic cotton-lycra cloth is grown and knit in the USA. Cotton cloth is patterned, cut, dyed, printed, and sewn in house by Rachel Blodgett and Sarah Von Sternberg. All design, vision, and pattern work by Rachel Blodgett.

If your sizes do not fall within the specified matrix, just send us your measurements for Fullest part of bust, underbust (where bra band would sit), natural high waist, and fullest part of hips/bum. Let us know if you're tall, petite, etc. We can do any size.
These leotards are made to order specifically for you! We are currently running an average of 4 weeks for shipment. Each order will be created based on when it was received. This particular garment will only be created during the year 2019. We will be making a new design each new year based on the numerological Tarot archetype of the year.
