Paint and dye your own Indigo and Clay-Resist-Painted garment or cloth!
sing a homemade mixture of natural clay that is garden-safe and easily washed out, we will paint onto cloth, then dye it in organic indigo, achieving multiple depths of blue and white imagery. No prior experience needed. Limited to 6 participants.
Saturday and Sunday Nov. 18-19
9 am -3 pm in Santa Rosa, CA,
(location will be sent after sign up)
Participants can choose between:
- organic cotton and lycra classic bralette and brief (high cut or classic) set
- organic cotton and lycra Leotard (high cut or classic)
- Linen altar cloth in the size/shape of your choice, up to 36x36"
- Linen Chemise in the length of your choice
- Bring your own item! Item must be made from natural plant fiber (cotton/linen/hemp/ etc) and must be okayed with Rachel prior to workshop.
Included in the Workshop:
-Garment or Cloth (unless you select the BYO item option)
-Access to Organic indigo vat
-use of clay paste in class
-Resource guide including recipes and where to purchase ingredients.
-One on One instruction and in class support with Rachel
DAY ONE:
-Basic intro to Fructose Indigo Vat
-Clay Resist How-To
-Resist Painting (layer one)
-Indigo dyeing (layer one)
DAY TWO:
-Resist Painting with clay (layer 2)
-Indigo Dyeing: building depth with indigo dye
-Washing, finishing, and care.
