Willow Bough: Raw Silk Knit Scarf
One of a kind Willow-printed scarf, made from medium-weight raw silk knit cloth. Cloth is reclaimed/second hand, and something I have never found before! It has a textural, rough/natural, matte look, and grows softer as it is washed and worn. The cloth itself feels unique and special; it had some tiny holes here and there because it is secondhand. I added machine darning to each scarf to mend the little spots, which to me adds to its handmade, hand-touched feel. These are really unique pieces and I'm excited to share them.
I chose Willow as the print element for this scarf, for its qualities of comfort and protecting for those in pain or in grief. Willow, to me, brings in the water element, and has a mystical and ancient, loving, quality. I envision this scarf acting as a protective and comforting drape, infused with plants and created with love. Can be worn around the neck or over the hair.
I recommend washing all silk with eucalan soap, which conditions and protects silk fiber.
