In circle with Angelica is an 8 week journey with Rachel into the magic, medicine, friendship, and lore of the beloved medicinal plant, Angelica.
Over the course of 8 weeks, you will receive a medicine bundle, plant meditation, and conversation surrounding Angelica, as she appears to us.
As the process unfolds, Rachel will hold space for your own process as well as the collective process to emerge, and our findings will be channeled into your choice of a ritual garment set (brief and bralette), or leotard, or Unisex brief.
Coming from a perspective which acknowledges plants as beings who hold infinite medicine and intimate relationship with human beings, this exploration will be largely self-directed. This circle is a space where we will devote ourselves to the mystery: listening for whatever awaits on the other side. Plants relate to us in much the same way as people- it will be a different experience for each individual.
Is this a Class?
Not exactly. This is more like a gathering, a study group, an experiment. There will be information circulating, but we will connect with Angelica itself as our main mentor.
So what am I buying?
-a set of ritual garments created with a distillation of our collective experience of meeting Angelica. These will be botanically dyed and blockprinted. (similar to whats pictured)
-A bundle of 2-3 medicinal offerings made with (a small amount of ethically gathered, not wildcrafted) Angelica Root and Blossom. (May include things like homemade incense, bath items, flower essences, or tincture)
-A space in community with other folks who are also meeting Angelica
-the experience of participating in the creative journey of ritual garment making and plant magic connection that Rachel usually goes through alone.
-A small portion of each paid participant fee will create a scholarship for one person to be a part of the circle at no monetary cost.
Will I have to talk a lot and tell everyone else about my secret inner world?
No. You are welcome to share as much or as little as you would like. The requirement is just that you devote time to listening to Angelica and holding space for the process of others in circle. Rachel will be the main facilitator. We will have 1-2 group calls throughout the process.
It seems kind of vague...why?
This is an experiment. I want to truly allow that a process unfold for us as a group. As an artist and magician/mystic/witch (none of these words feel like the perfect word for me, really!), I wish to always be in collaboration with the mystery. I believe that when we create structured space for something to unfold, while leaving room for the beauty of the universe to work with and through us, the findings are often ever more glorious and exciting than if we were to control all details.
As I have worked through Serpent & Bow for the past 5 years, I have found that many times, the medicine of the work comes through the creative process. Much of the work shared and sold is the result of a relationship to plants and the natural world which is difficult to fully express through the sole aspect of offering the ritual garments for sale. In this circle, I wish to see if it is possible to include a group in the full experience of ritual garment creation and the plant medicine that lives just behind the surface.
The Container is this: We will work with Angelica during the weeks of January 8 through March 5. We will distill our experience into ritual garments.
